BIOGRAFÍA
Experimentado BAJISTA de estudio y, sobre todo... de directos!!!
Más de 40 años “ininterumpidos” tocando única y EXCLUSIVAMENTE el bajo (no “guitarrista frustrado” como le gusta apuntar) realiza su primera actuación en directo con 15 años en el Teatro “Cal Bolet” de Vilafranca del Pdès.(Bcn) a principios de los años 80 y su primera entrada en un Estudio Profesional de Grabación en 1988.
Cuenta con más de 1400 "directos" realizados. De prácticamente todos los tipos y estilos musicales conocidos, predominando en más de un 80% todas las variantes del Rock ( Hard, Heavy, AOR, etc.) pasando además por el Pop, Blues, Jazz, Flamenco, Rap, Fados, Country, Funk, Infantil, Reggae, Salsa, Folk, Bluegrass, etc. etc. Trabajando por casi toda España, parte de Europa y participado en shows en algún otro continente (América). En ocasiones (como miembro de la banda) ha acompañando a importantes artistas nacionales e internacionales como, por ejemplo: Pere Gené (LONE STAR) Bobby Kimball (TOTO) Fran Cosmo (BOSTON), etc.
Ha actuado en las salas y escenarios más importantes del país como Zeleste, Garaje, KGB, Luz de Gas, Magic, Savannah, Totem, Be Cool, Gitanes, Razmatazz, La Vaquería, Gran Casino de Bcn, Mephisto, Rockville, Apolo, La Boite, Salamandra, Monasterio, Bóveda, Rocksound, Japan, Faktoría, FNAC, Platea (y un largo, largo etc.). Y ha participado en diversos Festivales Nacionales e Internacionales como el GIANTS OF ROCK (Butlins-Minehead-UK), “SANT PEPE ROCK” (biza), la Fira Internacional de Tàrrega, el MMV de Vic, etc. etc...
Desde sus inicios (participando en la grabación de cantidad de material "casettes y maquetas" de la época) ha registrado más de 30 grabaciones de LP's/CD's “oficiales” (entre proyectos propios, músico de sesión y/o colaboraciones). También ha participado en gran cantidad de VIDEOCLIPS profesionales (producto de las mismas).
Entre las últimas grabaciones, cabe destacar la de un CD “Tributo hispano” al grupo KISS (junto a grupos de toda España) y otro CD tributo a grandes músicos “desaparecidos”.
Más recientes son las grabaciones de los dos últimos discos de Joana AMARO “Carmen de Fuego” (2018) y “Respira” (2021) y el segundo CD del cantautor David Busquets "Instints" (2019) y el nuevo CD de mi banda GÜRU " 10 Years" (2021).
Cuenta con diferentes premios en concursos de ámbito estatal, autonómico y/o local (Rockacción, Èxit, etc) y con infinidad de entrevistas y apariciones en diversas emisoras de Radio y TV (TV3, Tele5, TeleMadrid, TeleTaxi, Penedes Tv, Canal Blau, etc.).
SIEMPRE “en activo”, nunca ha trabajado con menos de un par de proyectos a la vez (en ocasiones, llegando a combinar el trabajo de hasta 4 o 5 bandas). Compartiendo escenario con gente como: Gabinente Caligari, Barón rojo, Reckless Love, Especialistas, Salseta P.Sec, Toreros Muertos, Barricada, Su Ta Gar, Obús, Dare, y un largo etc. (la memoria no da para más... pero los hay)!!!
Para finalizar y a título de anécdota, añadir que a finales de Enero 2019 fue el bajista elegido (en una selección de músicos de Catalunya) para la grabación de la conmemoración del 50 aniversario de la última actuación realizada por THE BEATLES antes de su separación. Ese fue el motivo de la grabación de un DVD en directo con el mismo repertorio (más algunos temas añadidos) en la azotea de un emblemático edificio de la Capital del Penedès (Vilafranca).
GÜRU y AMARO ocupan actualmente su agenda. Combinando este par de proyectos personales con la banda de covers Barón Brandy (entre otros) y a la espera de poder confirmar alguna de las muchas “propuestas” (que están en el aire) de las que aun no es posible avanzar nada, solo que... suenan grandes!!!
BIOGRAPHY
A very experienced BASS PLAYER, both in the recording studio and ... playing live !!!
More than 40 years of experience playing ONLY the bass (he is not a “frustrated guitarist”, as he frequently likes to point out), having first performed live as a 15-year-old at the beginning of the 80s at the “Cal Bolet” theatre in Vilafranca del Penedès (near Barcelona). Early live performances were followed by his first experience in a professional recording studio in 1988.
He has played more than 1,400 live concerts ranging across practically all musical styles, and while probably four out of five of these have involved variants of the Rock genre (Hard, Heavy, AOR, etc.), he has also turned his hand to Pop, Blues, Jazz, Flamenco, Rap, Fado, Country, Funk, Reggae, Salsa, Folk, Bluegrass among other styles. He has worked throughout the whole of Spain as well as in other parts of Europe, and he has also taken part in performances on the continent of America. As a band member he has accompanied important Spanish and international artists such as Pere Gené (LONE STAR), Bobby Kimball (TOTO), Fran Cosmo (BOSTON), etc.
The many Spanish venues that he has appeared at include important names such as Zeleste, Garaje, KGB, Luz de Gas, Magic, Savannah, Totem, Be Cool, Gitanes, Razmatazz, La Vaquería, Gran Casino de Barcelona, Mephisto, Rockville, Apolo, La Boite, Salamandra, Monasterio, Bóveda, Rocksound, Japan, Faktoría, FNAC, Platea and a long list of others. He has also played at a number of national and international festivals, such as GIANTS OF ROCK (Butlins Minehead, UK), “SANT PEPE ROCK” (Ibiza), the Tàrrega International Festival, the MMV in Vic, etc.
Since his early days recording, when his bass playing could be heard on the typical cassettes and demos of the time, he has played on more than 30 published LPs and CDs, including projects with his own bands, session recordings and collaborations with other artists, as well as appearing in the videos that were released to accompany these projects.
Particularly notable among these is a Spanish tribute to the group KISS, in which he appeared alongside musicians from all over Spain, along with another CD recorded as a tribute to some of the great musicians who are no longer with us.
His most recent recordings include the last two releases by Joana AMARO, “Carmen de Fuego” (2018) and “Respira” (2021), the second CD by singer-songwriter David Busquets, entitled "Instints" (2019), and the latest CD by his band GÜRU, "10 Years" (2021).
He has won a range of awards in nationwide and regional competitions (Rockacción, Èxit, etc.), and has both been interviewed and appeared as a performer on countless radio and TV stations (TV3, Tele5, TeleMadrid, TeleTaxi, Penedes TV, Canal Blau, etc.).
He is forever active, and always has at least a couple of projects on the go simultaneously, on occasion playing with as many as 4 or 5 bands at a time. The groups he has played with have shared stages with well-known names such as Gabinente Caligari, Barón Rojo, Reckless Love, Especialistas, Salseta P. Sec, Toreros Muertos, Barricada, Su Ta Gar, Obús, Dare and others (his memory lets him down, but there were many more!).
One very interesting project that he was involved in came in January 2019, when he was chosen from among a list of musicians in Catalonia to play bass in a concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ last live performance before their break-up. This resulted in the recording of a live DVD playing the same songs (with some added extras) on an open-air terrace at an historic building in Vilafranca, the capital of the Penedès.
GÜRU and AMARO are the two projects that are currently keeping him busy. He combines these with his performances with the covers band, Baron Brandy (among others) and hopes soon to be able to confirm one of the many “proposals” that remain in the air. He can’t say much at the moment, only that … they promise to be huge!
